AFRICA: Can Races Transform Africa Through Peace and Unity
Recent Gauteng Business News
AT THE HEART of the JM Busha 54 Races for Peace and Unity in Africa lies the power of people who believe in a better, more peaceful, more unified South Africa and Africa as a whole.
All citizens are invited, whether they are runners or not, to stand tall and take responsibility for peace. JM Busha and its subsidiaries, the City of Johannesburg, Central Gauteng Athletics and ordinary citizens have all put their name to peace and challenge other corporates, organisations and citizens to do so too.
The JM Busha 54 Races for Peace and Unity in Africa Marathon will be taking place on the 28th of May at Rand Stadium in Rosettenville. The race forms part of a citizen driven initiative with an extraordinary vision: 54 countries, 54 races, all on Africa Day, all for peace and unity. In celebrating Africa Day and driven by the quest for peace and unity, the fun walk/run races and marathons are set to become a highlight on the runner’s calendar.
The race is a family event and includes a distance for everyone to partake in – 5km, 10km, 21km and the marathon (42km). Participants can stand a chance of winning a share of the R400 000 in prize giveaways on the day in their respective distances. All proceeds made from race entries will contribute to the JM Busha 54 initiative to raise funds for AU peace keeping missions, mediation efforts and crisis management in Africa.
Sponsored by JM Busha Investment Group and in partnership with the City of Johannesburg; Central Gauteng Athletics and Channel Africa in South Africa, JM Busha 54 National Peace Pledge Marathon will be hosted at Rand Stadium on 28th of May 2017.
In addition, the finals of the Simunye Soccer Cup “Promoting Solidarity and Africa Unity through Sport”, organised by City of Joburg and The African Diaspora Hope will also be hosted concurrently on the 28th May.
We invite you to join as an Ambassador. Ambassadors will take the race to new heights; strengthening bonds between stakeholders and developing awareness around the Peace Pledge. Students are invited to take part in the specially devised programme of Student Ambassadors that aims to incentivise them to develop solutions to the problems in their own countries. You can signs the Peace Pledge today at www.jmbusha54.com/pledge.
“The marathon and the education programs we are putting together will be able to ensure that all citizens could be able to participate in building the Africa we want.”, says Mr. Joseph Busha, CEO of Jm Busha and brainchild behind the event for Peace and Unity in Africa organization.
