ECONOMY: Get Insight Into Global Economic Forces and the Local Political Economy from SACSC

Recent Gauteng Business News

After a barrage of tough years in South Africa, and a particularly harrowing 2016, many business people would be deeply relieved to have an accurate crystal ball to help them navigate the risky headwinds of 2017.

While an all-seeing crystal ball for business is wishful thinking, the South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) is sharing the next-best thing – prized insight from leading economic and political analysts.

SACSC is starting the year with three high-value information-packed sessions in three cities around the country.

Prominent economist Dawie Roodt and respected political economy analyst and futurist Daniel Silke will share their perspectives on the South African economy in what is likely to be another difficult year for the country.

Everyone is welcome to book to attend the sessions, which are specifically tailored towards providing valuable insight to the retail and shopping centre sectors and associated industries.

“By monitoring trends, exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge we support our industry growth, individual success and deliver value to our members,” says Amanda Stops, CEO of SACSC.

Roodt, who specialises in government finance and monetary policy, will provide a global economic overview and zoom in on the prevailing drivers and factors at play in South Africa’s local economy.

In Gauteng, Roodt will offer his presentation at a breakfast event sponsored by Redefine Properties on Tuesday, 21 February 2017, from 7.30am to 11am, at The Balalaika Hotel, 20 Maude Street, Sandton Central.

Silke will explore whether South Africa will be consolidating or unravelling in 2017. At breakfast sessions in Durban and Cape Town he will delve into the prospects for the South African economy as well as its political stability in what is likely to be a testing year for leadership, the ANC and for growth.

In Cape Town, Silke will speak on Tuesday, 21 February 2017, from 7.30am to 11am, at the breakfast event sponsored by Old Mutual Property, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Beach Road, Granger Bay.

Silke again will share his insights in Durban on Friday, 24 February 2017, from 7.30am to 11am, at the breakfast event sponsored by JLR Services and Warehousing, at the Durban Country Club, Isaiah Ntshangase Road, Durban.

Space is limited therefore booking is essential for all sessions, and SACSC members benefit from discounted rates.
