Business: Konica Minolta Claims Top Spot in InfoSource Survey
Recent Gauteng Business News
“This is a fantastic result for us,” says Marianna Gdanis, colour division manager of Konica Minolta South Africa. “Our colour business unit has grown by 76 percent and taking into account that we do not operate within the personal copier market, our market-leading share of 29 percent is quite remarkable.” The company also kept its half year lead in the black and white sector and for the first time attained the number one spot. “We have increased unit sales from 2007 to 2008 and are now the leading supplier in this space with 18.4 percent market share,” states Paul Symonds, B and W division manager of Konica Minolta South Africa. In addition, Konica Minolta South Africa has been named the number one supplier within the light production segment for MFPs for the second consecutive year. “With it being one of our most important business units, we are extremely proud of having attained 37.7 percent of this market, which includes both black and white and colour devices,” explains Symonds.
Konica Minolta South Africa is first in black and white light production with a 43.1 percent market share and has achieved 27.9 percent within the colour light production market. Says Gdanis: “Being ranked first overall locally, with top positions in key segments, is a truly phenomenal result, especially considering the start of the economic downturn in the last quarter of 2008. I believe that 2009 is going to be the real challenge and may not see the same growth of the past year, but we remain as determined as ever to build on these positive results and maintain our success. “In fact, we expect that the recent introduction of bizhub quantum to our overall product offering will prove beneficial to organisations looking to streamline their print costs. Our team uses bizhub quantum to conduct a free assessment of any company’s print processes, and highlights areas of potential savings.
The focus this year would be on saving money and preventing wastage with bizhub quantum showing the way,” Gdanis concludes.
