EXPO: New SA Industry and Technology Fair Gets Support

Recent Gauteng Business News

Exhibition Management Services (EMS) last week announced the launch of a European-style trade event based on research they have been conducting for the last three years.

Designed as an umbrella event for African industrialists, the South African Industry and Technology Fair, or INDUTEC for short, consists of 10 compatible, co-located title events targeting different sectors of Industry.

INDUTEC will take place from 14 to 16 May 2013 at Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

Based on four of EMS’s already successful and long-established industrial shows, INDUTEC 2013 will be adding six more industry focus sectors to its line-up.

Three of these have attracted the attention and support of one of Germany’s largest trade fair organisers.

“Hannover Fairs International, a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe, is supporting Intermac Africa, Manutec Africa, and Smart Automation Africa as suitable platforms for their international clients to access the South African market,” said Gotz Dormann, the company’s Managing Director. “We recommend Exhibition Management Services,” he added.

The 10 sectors profiled at INDUTEC are:

Pumps Valves and Pipes Africa
8th International Trade Exhibition

Watertec Africa
5th International Water Technology Exhibition

Petro.t.ex Africa
Definitive African Petrochemical Industry Exhibition and Conference

Intermac Africa
Industrial Technology, Machinery and Engineering Supplies

Manutec Africa
Manufacturing Technologies Expo

Smart Automation Africa
Process Automation Exhibition

Afriplast Expo
International Plastics Industry Exhibition

Energex Africa
3rd International Energy Exhibition

Industrial GreenTec Africa
Global Megatrends in Energy and Environmental Technologies and Sustainability in Manufacturing

Empowertec Africa
Small Business Opportunities Showcase

“By running Pumps Valves and Pipes, Watertec Africa, Petro.t.ex Africa and Energex Africa together in one venue in 2011 we proved that trade fairs in South Africa – and their participants – could undoubtedly benefit from the critical mass and synergy generated by this co-location,” said John Thomson, Managing Director of EMS.

“That was the start of a detailed examination of other compatible industry sectors not currently serviced by any trade exhibition platform that we could co-opt into a larger event in 2013, sectors whose output over the last 10 years has doubled,” continued Thomson. “Simply put, INDUTEC fills a void - offering local and international suppliers a viable conduit into the growing African manufacturing and engineering sectors.”

INDUTEC enjoys support from numerous related trade organisations and associations involved in the title events.

Many of these industry associations and institutes will be hosting conferences, seminars and workshops exploring policy issues, new technologies and developments affecting industry sectors.

“INDUTEC 2013 will be boosted by government initiatives such as the new R5,75-billion Manufacturing Competitive Enhancement Programme,” adds Thomson. “It will also see benefits from the recently announced National Development Plan (NDP) which aims to improve manufacturing capability across all industrial and manufacturing sectors.

“INDUTEC provides an excellent platform to bridge the gap between policy and implementation of the NDP,” continues Thomson. “One of the NDP’s targets is to increase exports and expand manufacturing. In addition, South Africa is well positioned to exploit opportunities for low-carbon energy from hydroelectric and other clean energy sources - one of the focus areas of the Energex Africa expo.”

Another NDP target is to improve water supply, use and management - some of the themes explored at Watertec Africa.

Despite its recent launch, the new show is already receiving huge interest from EMS’s extensive network of international representatives.
