DESIGN: Creative Week Type MMX Debuts During Loeries

Type MMX will then travel to Johannesburg the week after. The ISTD has been working with students in South Africa through their highly successful portfolio assessment scheme for more than a decade. Each year, design education institutions run the ISTD projects as part of their final year curriculum, and they are highly valued for the emphasis and attention that is paid to typography and typographic detailing. Tiffany Turkington-Palmer who is the ISTD Education Officer in South Africa and Managing Director of Flow Communications comments, “We are proud to have grown the ISTD student assessment scheme here in South Africa with a high number of design institutions across the country taking part. The scheme is widely recognised as elevating the standards of typography through the running of the projects on an annual basis.”
Type MMX will move to Johannesburg with a student workshop lined up for 2pm on Monday 4 October at the University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus. An educator roundtable will be hosted at The professional workshop will take place at City Varsity in Newtown at 10 am on Tuesday 5 October.
