PACKAGING: A Clean Sweep for Nampak Cartons & Labels
Recent Gauteng Business News
The ISO 22000 accreditation is an impressive integrated system that includes ISO 9001, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and Food Safety accreditations. As a precondition for receiving and ultimately retaining ISO 22000, organisations are required to establish, implement and maintain additional prerequisite programmes. As such, Nampak Cartons and Labels has also implemented the internationally recognised PAS (Publicly Available Specification) standard to set out and meet ISO’s specific food safety requirements, as well as assist in controlling food safety hazards.
Attaining ISO 22000 was not an overnight achievement, but rather a result of a long and dedicated process that saw Nampak Cartons and Labels training over 254 staff members on the importance of and procedures for food safety. In achieving the accreditation, Nampak Cartons and Labels had to address many key issues, from the construction and layout of the plant’s buildings, right down to personal hygiene and the management of raw materials.
The ISO 22000 accreditation essentially means that all cartons produced at Nampak Cartons and Label’s plants are food safe, giving confidence and peace of mind to the customer that packaging produced in this plant is contaminate free. This hygienic assurance is passed on to all Nampak Cartons and Labels customers and of course the end consumers who ultimately benefit most from contaminate free consumption.
