INSURANCE: OUTsurance Founders Inducted Into Global Hall Of Fame

Recent Gauteng Business News

Howard Aron and Willem Roos, joint chief executives and founders of OUTsurance, have added another accolade to their impressive career achievements by being inducted into the Ernst and Young World Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Membership in this academy is exclusive to Ernst and Young’s World Entrepreneur winners from participating countries around the world. This sought after award was established to commemorate the accomplishments of the world’s outstanding entrepreneurs and to build awareness around the global economic impact of their contributions. The annual global event, produced and sponsored by Ernst and Young, draws over 9000 nominees from participating countries, and as such, to be a part of that winners' circle is a considerable accomplishment.

During the past eleven years OUTsurance has grown into the largest direct insurer in South Africa, with over one million car, home and business policies in force. The organisation is a pioneer in the short-term insurance industry through the implementation of advanced premium rating models and product innovation, thus driving significant change to the direct distribution model. In addition, OUTsurance has directly made an impact through its community-based initiatives.

Philip Hourquebie: CEO – Africa at Ernst and Young commented that for most entrepreneurs recognition of achievement is rare, but today we, as a global firm, celebrate and salute the entrepreneurial spirit of the founders of OUTsurance, Howard Aron and Willem Roos. These entrepreneurs willingly embraced risk and successfully built an exceptional enterprise which positively impacts our community and the economy.

As newly inducted members of the Hall of Fame, Aron and Roos find themselves in exclusive company, with previous national and global winners including: Massmart founder Mark Lamberti, Naspers chief executive Koos Bekker, ARMgold chairman Patrice Motsepe, Michael Dell of Dell Computers and Jeff Bezos of amazon.com
