Experienced taxation experts/firms are required to assist the Agency with various tax related matters.
Services required:
o Assess and resolve contingent/actual tax liabilities of the four entities by engaging at the highest level with National Treasury/SARS to resolve contingent /actual tax liabilities of the four entities
o Ensure that the appropriate steps are taken to ensure adequate tax exemptions and that registration are in place for TIA including, but not limited to, income tax exemption and VAT status
o Compile a tax guideline/policy for the TIA to ensure that the TIA is aware of tax laws applicable to it and complies with same including deduction of tax when dealing with technical advisors, mentors, consultants, labour brokers, board members and so on
o Ensure that the wording of pro forma contracts within TIA is not phrased in a manner that has unintended tax consequences for projects, for example the expression that monies granted include VAT
o In the short-term, obtain a directive from National Treasury/SARS for the TIA to ensure that projects do not have adverse tax consequences. National Treasury has already provided the Innovation Fund, in the presence of SARS the appropriate authority to proceed along this path
o Investigate the possibilities of TIA registering as a Public Benefit Organisation and acting accordingly in terms of findings from such.
