- Commonly Asked Questions Regarding a Merchant Credit Card Facility
Merchants offering mail order and subscription services looking to accept credit cards from their clients require a system that can handle credit card transaction processing for a large number of payments in a secure and reliable manner. To meet the requirements of these merchants PayGate has developed PayBatch, a batch processing service which enables merchants to accept credit cards from their clients and process a large number payments at one time to their internet merchant facility at their bank. Each transaction in the batch is queued on the system and then processed via the PayGate online payment gateway directly to the merchant’s internet merchant facility. Once processing is complete the result of each transaction is made available to the merchant in the PayGate Back Office admin website.
In order to process a batch of credit card payments, the merchant can generate a CSV file containing the required data for each transaction in the format laid out in the PayBatch technical document available on the Download page of the PayGate website. Once completed this file should then be uploaded to the PayGate online payment gateway via the PayBatch page in the Back Office site. Our system then checks the file for errors and alerts the merchant if any have been detected. If no error is detected each transaction in the batch is queued on the PayGate credit card payment gateway and then submitted to the relevant bank for authorization via the merchant’s internet merchant facility. Once completed the batch results will be made available to the merchant in a downloadable file. PayBatch can also be used to upload refund and settlement batches.
For any merchant looking to offer mail order or subscription services, we recommend PayBatch as it offers a reliable and user-friendly way to accept credit cards from clients and process large numbers of payments at one time. As transactions are processed directly to the merchant’s internet merchant facility at their bank, the merchant receives their funds directly and does not need to wait for a payout from a combined internet merchant facility.
