Education: Softline Helps Develop Entrepreneurs Of Tomorrow

Recent Gauteng Business News

Through its association with Life College, Softline, a leading provider of accounting, payroll, CRM and ERP software solutions, continues to develop and grow South Africa’s entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

Ivan Epstein, Softline CEO and Life College life champion, says that you need more than just a good idea to be a successful entrepreneur: “You need to be passionate about your project, believe in it 100% and work hard to make it a success. What you put in is what you will get out.”

Softline’s donation has enabled Life College to assist students in several entrepreneurial projects, all aimed at developing character and leadership and to ultimately to learn what it takes to run a successful business.

This year, projects at Life College include handcrafts and fashion shows. Both projects require the students to raise capital, which is then matched by Life College and donors such as Softline. Life College says that the students view the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup as a wonderful opportunity for their endeavours. “We are very excited about this year and what our students can achieve through the help of companies such as Softline. Their donation and support goes a very long way in helping students learn about life as well as business,” says Pat Pillai, founder of Life College.

Epstein says that the programme works well. 2009 student Michelle Mntambo managed to raise R1 000 capital for her gift card project. She decided to continue with her project during the holidays and made a profit of R10 000.

“Developing leaders is important, but creating sustainable communities is probably the most vital for South Africa. Michelle’s success is heart-warming as well as inspiring. She will, herself, be a wonderful mentor to her peers and is such a good example of what projects like those at Life College can help to achieve,” says Epstein.
