Business: SANAS announces reinstatement of the accreditation process
Recent Gauteng Business News
ABVA (Association of BEE Verification Agencies) would like to announce that after a temporary suspension, SANAS (South African National Standards Authority) has re-instated the process of accrediting verification agencies. The process was suspended in July following publication in the government gazette of the dti Verification manual, which created uncertainty around the relationship between the Gazetted dti Verification Manual and SANAS R47-02.
The dti Verification Manual comprises the minimum standard of evidence required in support of a verification score, and is applied by all ABVA members seeking accreditation by SANAS. SANAS will assess and express an external opinion on the application of the procedures by verification agencies, in addition to their adherence to the principles of the R47-02 standard. The suspension of this process has now been lifted, and verification agencies are progressing steadily toward final accreditation by SANAS.
ABVA members have subscribed to the principles and methodology for accreditation since inception, and look forward to the completion of the accreditation process that will provide an external assessment of their high standards. Businesses are urged to support the attempts of verification agencies to uphold these minimum standards of evidence during the verification process.
