Recent Gauteng Business News
Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa
(IoDSA), Lindie Engelbrecht, has announced her resignation, citing her
desire to spend more time with her young family. She has committed to
continuing to fulfil her responsibilities until the IoDSA has found a
successor.
No timeline for Engelbrecht's replacement has yet been made known, but the IoDSA has undertaken to keep its members abreast of developments. She also confirmed that she has not resigned in order to take up a new position elsewhere.
"I would like to thank the IoDSA for the opportunity to lead this great organisation in what has been a dream come true for me: furthering the cause of corporate governance in South Africa," she said.
Since her arrival at the IoD in 2008, Engelbrecht has presidedover the launch of the third King Report on Corporate Governance, working tirelessly to see the mammoth project come to fruition.
She also recently introduced the Governance Assessment Instrument, which works hand in hand with the King Code to assist organisations in improving their governance structures and processes.
"My decision may seem sudden to some, but for me it comes at a time when I feel I have accomplished that which I set out to at the IoDSA," she concluded. "Exciting times lie ahead for the IoDSA and I believe it best for a new CEO, someone with fresh energy and ideas to support the strong management team in taking the Institute to the next level."
