Mining group Anglo Platinum seemed to have turned a corner as
their shares jumped on the JSE when the market had a favourable response
to the operational turnaround and took the
poor financial results and the huge R12.5bn rights offer in its stride.
Large houses seem to have come off best in the property market through the recession. According to ABSA large houses only dropped around 3.7% in value whereas small and medium homes value dropped between 6.6% and 6.9%
In reaction to recent data showing that business is being very slow to recover from the recession, economists have said that it is down to households to up their consumption levels if optimism in business is to return any time soon.
London Stock Exchange listed company Randgold has said that it is looking to be producing 1.2 million ounces of gold a year by 2013. This comes on the back of news that they had a record breaking year last year.
Apparently FNB are planning on bringing PayPal into South Africa later this year and FNB executives are said to be fuming that the plan had been leaked. PayPal is seen as a major stepping stone for South African internet products becoming globally viable.
