MOTORING: Luxury Car Auction
Recent Gauteng Business News
Buyers are in for
a real treat this weekend, as a selection of luxury cars is set to go
under the hammer… and buyers are set to snap up these sought-after
vehicles at wholesale prices. The event seems to be a knee jerk reaction to stabilizing financial markets, after the motor industry was severely affected by the recent economic depression and there will undoubtably be some good deals to be found.
According to Darryl Jacobson, managing director of Burchmore’s, the
company’s Sandton branch will auction a number of exotic cars this
Saturday. “Included in the line-up is a black 2006 Aston Martin DB9
with a mere 25 000 km on the clock,” he reveals.
They will also be auctioning a number of particularly sought-after
Mercedes-Benz models, including two silver 2004 SL55 AMGs; a silver
2007 S65; a white 2007 CLS63 AMG; a white 2007 S350
and a silver 2006 S500 most of which only have around 30 000km on the clock and none has more than 75 000km
The auction starts at 10.30 am on Saturday morning (October 24) and
Jacobson is expecting a good crowd. “It’s advisable to arrive early –
our Saturday morning auctions are proving exceptionally popular,
because they have become real family affairs,” he comments.
Naturally, the event is open to members of the public and also dealers.
Jacobson urges private buyers to attend the auction. "If you have never
attended an auction before, don't worry. The entire process is
extremely easy to follow, and we can obviously assist auction novices.
Remember that, as a private buyer, you will be bidding against the
trade and paying wholesale prices. Exactly the same car, purchased from
a dealer, will cost considerably more!
"So come along and enjoy the fun – our auctions are thoroughly
enjoyable events. And, who knows? As a private buyer, you could nab a
bargain!" he concludes.
Burchmore's Sandton is located on Old Main Pretoria Road, off the M1
highway (between the Woodmead and Marlboro off ramps). Around 100
vehicles, including bank repossessions, will be knocked down this
Saturday. In addition to the exotics, Burchmore’s will also knock down
a comprehensive selection of other vehicles – from family cars to 4x4s.
