BUSINESS: JA South Africa Appoints Nelly Mofokeng As Managing Director

Junior Achievement South Africa (JA South Africa), a non-profit organisation affiliated with JA Worldwide, has appointed Nelly Mofokeng as its Managing Director.
In her role, Mofokeng undertakes the key responsibilities of organisational fundraising, leadership, support and guidance for permanent and part-time staff, funder and stakeholder relations, and ensuring compliance to funding commitments.
Mofokeng will also track and support all sustainability initiatives, engage with the JA South Africa board while continuously developing sound business strategy and ensuring regular and consistent communication throughout the organisation.
“I am fortunate to have built a career in an industry that I am incredibly passionate about and have worked with mentors that believed in me. Since I started at JA South Africa, I have worked with people who always saw the best in me and supported my career progression,” says Mofokeng.
As a programme alumni herself, Mofokeng has a long-standing history with the organisation. She completed an out of school programme through JA South Africa in 1994 before starting at JA South Africa as a data capturer.
JA South Africa’s programmes aim to stimulate entrepreneurial interest amongst South Africa youth through mentorship, skills development, entrepreneurship education, motivation and partnerships with corporate companies for funding and training purposes. The programmes continue to provide essential entrepreneurial and financial literacy programmes to young people of all ages across South Africa, in both rural and urban environment.
