MSCI, a leading provider of research-based indexes and analytics worldwide, will host the 13th IPD South Africa Property Investment Conference in August in Cape Town and intends to share some of these opportunities by exploring the notion of “value” gain through property investment.

The conference agenda showcases the what, why and how of wealth creation in this resilient asset class, stretching the boundaries and protecting future markets through strategic sustainability.

This year’s speakers represent a range of thought leaders and industry experts drawn from local and international sources who will share knowledge and expertise with conference delegates.

There is special focus on the state of the markets and the game changers, as well as the vehicles and evolving solutions for real estate as investment.

As has become tradition, the conference kicks off with an engaging and interactive Master Class Workshop before the program is introduced by conference leader and seasoned financial journalist David Williams, senior anchor at CNBC Africa and former deputy editor of the Financial Mail.

Political commentator and global newspaper columnist Justice Malala will be sharing his views on SA’s political environment, its impact on property investments and ways to find value in that context.

MSCI Vice-President, Jill Compton from the UK, will present the global real estate market trends.

Respected investment consultant Dries du Toit – former Chief Investment Officer at Sanlam Investment Management - will be weighing in on ways to optimise value in property portfolios and investment planning.

One highlight of the program is adventurer and renowned speaker, Hein Wagner, who will talk about Challenge and Triumph, drawing from his own life experiences. Another is Mkhize Ndabe from Eskom PF, sharing a large Asset Owner’s perspective on allocating capital for investment.

Topping day one, the conference offers an exceptional platform for senior level networking, is the IPD South Africa Awards Dinner, where South Africa’s top property funds are recognised for their actual property performance over the past year.

A session on Investment Vehicles on the second day Chaired by TV personality and MD Commercial: Leapfrog Properties, Kura Chihota, promises to be a lively and informative discussion covering Listed Real Estate, Private Equity and Passive investments. The conference will be wound up with an incisive look at strategic sustainability; involving Peter Willis, Director of the Cambridge Program for Sustainability Leadership, Andrew Konig, CEO of Redefine Properties and Jon Duncan, Head of the Responsible Investment Program at the Old Mutual group.
