Business: Chamber Makes Offer to Trade Unions in Coal Sector

The offer is provisional and subject to several conditions, including that the demand relating to the medical aid contribution be withdrawn, approvals in accordance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act be signed by trade unions and that the offer for the living out allowance and the housing allowance as well as the service increment be accepted.
“Today huge progress was made in the fourth round of negotiations. The parties moved closer together. The Chamber’s offer will be taken to the workers for discussion,” said Solidarity spokesperson Jaco Kleynhans.
