A record number of 395 969 trades took place on the JSE’s Equity Market on Thursday last week. The total value of these trades was just over R24,6 billion.
The new record is well above the previous intraday trade record of just under 300 000 trades on the JSE Equity Market. The average number of trades per day which took place in this market during 2014 is approximately 176 000.
Leanne Parsons: Director Trading and Market Services at the JSE, says the JSE’s trading systems handled the large number of transactions without any difficulty. “Records like this show that the JSE continues to provide a stable, credible and world class trading platform as well as access to a very liquid market with deep pools of capital.”
