The South African Breweries (SAB) Ltd has announced that as of 1 March 2009 Dr Vincent Maphai, former chairman of BHPBilliton Southern Africa, will be joining the brewer as Executive Director of Corporate Affairs and Transformation.
Maphai, who was Corporate Affairs Director of SAB from 1999 to 2004, provided significant leadership during his original tenure, and played a pivotal role in making SAB one of the consistently most-admired companies in South Africa.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Vincent back,” says SAB Managing Director, Norman Adami. “He not only understands our business well, but he also has a keen personal appreciation for the unique soul of SAB.”
Says Maphai: “I’m delighted to be re-joining SAB, and particularly pleased with the number of opportunities and challenges I’ve been given as part of my new portfolio.”
“Vincent is uniquely suited for his new role with us – he is one of South Africa’s most well-respected leaders, with substantial accomplishments in business, academia and public policy” Adami added.
