EXPO: Markex – Designed to Boost the Power Of Great Ideas

“Markex World of Events is much more than a showcase of our world-class industry’s products and services; it’s a platform for the inception of new concepts, innovative thinking, inspiration and ideas, and as important, new opportunities for networking and building relationships,” says Markex Exhibition Manager Fran Lurie.

Markex - A Reliable Marketing and Trade Exhibition

Announcing Markex World of Events 2012, which takes place from 12 to 14 June at the Sandton Convention Centre, Lurie says Markex has been running successfully for 25 years, growing and evolving in line with industry trends and requirements. It has made a powerful name for itself as the definitive marketing, promotions, and special events trade exhibition in South Africa.

Last year the show attracted 262 exhibitors and close on 10 500 visitors from all sectors of business, creative agencies, PR companies, event organisers and resellers visited Markex World of Events in 2011, with 91% indicating that they make or influence buying decisions.

Markex 2012 promises more for both exhibitors and visitors with attractions such as the Loerie Awards Travelling Exhibition, a roadshow presenting winners of the 2011 Loeries; the USB Speakers Pavilion, which debuted in 2011 and gives a stage to the presentation skills of South Africa’s top professional business speakers and MCs in an enclosed theatre; a platform for the Pendoring Awards to promote Afrikaans advertising as well as provide information on the 2012 competition – all in the midst of two highly targeted shows – the Markex World of Events exhibition and the Markex Trade Show.

The general access area consists of one-and-a-half halls featuring marketing related products and services accessible to all visitors, which includes both representatives of the marketing and promotions industry as well as the corporate market

New Features of Markex

The brand new component of Markex is the Trade Show, a separate, co-located show with its own dedicated entrance and registration area which is accessible only to bona fide trade buyers and resellers. Says Lurie, “The introduction of a Trade Show is an evolution of the highly successful Trade Only section, which has been running for the last two years. The Markex Trade Show takes this concept a step further and clearly distinguishes the Trade Only exhibitors from those targeting all visitors. This show gives wholesalers and resellers an opportunity to conduct business in a personalised setting, and can only be accessed by registering with a pin code obtained from an exhibitor or the organisers.” This new development means that half of Hall 1 will become the dedicated Markex Trade Show hall, with its own ‘exclusive check-in’ registration area and restricted access to bona fide trade buyers.

Visitors are expected at Markex 2012 from a range of marketing disciplines, including local and international key decision makers in advertising; brand managers; business owners and chief executives; copywriters; creative directors; direct marketing managers; financial services managers; FMCG managers; marketing directors and managers; secretaries; event planners and organisers; conference organisers; public relations practitioners; sales and marketing executives; and buyers of promotional gifts and other items.

Markex is a trade show and no babies, prams, toddlers, or under 18Â’s are permitted. Student access is limited to the final day of the exhibition, 14 June, and only to students enrolled in marketing-related fields of study by prior arrangement with the organisers via the website.
