“2011 was a tough year for most industries and whilst we all wait in anticipation for an economic upturn, I don’t foresee 2012 being any easier,” says Warren Marques, Managing Director of Paramount Trailers. Despite this, Paramount Trailers, one of South Africa’s leading and established commercial trailer manufacturers had an exciting and profitable year.
Paramount Trailers Continues to Grow
Last year saw Paramount Trailers grow their staff complement by 20%, adding further skills and expertise to an already dynamic and experienced team. Warren says that one of the main reasons for the company’s growth during 2011 has been their commitment and strategy to expand their portfolio offering to the Southern African market. “Africa is an untapped market that will continue to grow as long as road transport remains the primary transport means across the continent.”
“Our local business growth as well as success in Africa has produced a growing customer base and a need for us to expand our trailer offering. We have further expanded our product range to include bulker and sugarcane trailers. The introduction of new lines has been an important step in the growth of the company.”
Paramount Trailers Cautiously Optimistic about 2012
Warren says that they are cautiously optimistic about the 2012 and what it holds for the industry. We will continue to monitor the economic situation in Europe, how it develops and the impact it will have on our local economy. The weakening Rand will continue to allow for our expansion into Africa, ensuring growth into new markets, customisation of trailers and providing new tailor-made solutions.
“From a local perspective the rising petrol prices, introduction of the new tolling system and possible emissions taxes will all affect the transport industry, whether it be from a logistical or trailer manufacturing position,” says Warren, “in the meantime Paramount Trailers will ensure that we are providing our customers with leading edge trailer manufacturing solutions.”
