EXPO: Africa’s Largest Energy Show Gets Underway Later This Month

Africa’s largest energy show will take place in Johannesburg later this month, bringing together industry experts from around the continent to discuss possible solutions to Africa’s electricity supply challenges. The 13th annual Power and Electricity World Africa Conference and Exhibition will be an important opportunity to meet and network with Africa’s energy leaders, learn about the latest projects from coal to renewable energy, attract investment and form mutually beneficial partnerships. A combination of the highest calibre keynote speakers, the widest range of seminar and workshop topics and over 250 companies exhibiting makes Power and Electricity World Africa 2011 the ultimate power and electricity forum on the continent.

The entire African continent is in the process of deciding between using fossil fuels and introducing renewable energy sources in order to achieve the best return on investment. Power and Electricity World Africa 2011 is the ideal forum to help African leaders make informed decisions on their options, as well as bringing together investors and financiers and valuable management strategies to ensure project success. Over 150 conference speakers will provide delegates with behind the scenes information on Africa’s power and electricity sector. The wide range of topics to be discussed include: power generation, clean technology and renewable energy, smart electricity, independent power producers, bio-energy, green buildings, energy efficiency, transmission and distribution, on-site power and hydro power.

The event encompasses 11 shows in one, covering all aspects of power generation and electricityusage in Africa. Running over 5 days, the combined exhibition and conference will host more than 3000 industry professionals to collaborate and discuss energy issues on the continent.



Among the African leaders and experts confirmed to speak at the event include South Africa’s Energy Minister Dipuo Peters, Director General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Israel Sharon Kedmi, Minister for Energy and Mineral development in Uganda Simon Giu D’ujanga and MD of corporate development of Copperbelt Energy Corporation in Zambia Michael Tarney. These are only a few of the 150 industry leaders lined up to speak at the event.



Power and Electricity World Africa 2011 will host 3 main workshops on the 28th March 2011 covering the principles of project finance in energy projects; constructing renewable energy projects in Africa; and introduction to CDM and its application in the renewable energy sector of Africa. In addition, the event will include more than 50 free seminars that delegates can sign up to attend. Technical seminars for middle level management and engineers wanting to explore the latest energy technologies will be provided by some of Africa’s and the world’s foremost authorities on power generation, onsite power, smart electricity, clean technology and energy efficiency. The Power and Electricity World Africa exhibition will feature an on-floor symposium where the latest technologies and solutions will be showcased.



The fourth annual Africa Energy Awards gala dinner will also take place during Power and Electricity World Africa 2011, on the evening of the 31st March. This prestigious event will recognise and celebrate the leaders and innovators in Africa’s energy sector.



Delegates will be able to source products and solutions from more than 250 power sector exhibitors at the show. The show and conference will be a worthwhile event for all power utilities and producers, power pools, IPP, municipalities, government regulators, investment and funding development agencies, oil and gas companies and all major energy users in agriculture, mines, telecoms, transport, steel, manufacturing and industry as well as architects, property developers, facility managers and retailers.



Power and Electricity World Africa 2011 will take place from the 28th March – 1st April 2011 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg.
