BUSINESS: Tribunal Awards Tender to Global 360 and Business Connexion

Recent Gauteng Business News

The Competition Tribunal of South Africa was in search of a solution that would manage the back-office processes of its operations as well as achieve a paperless approach to managing tribunal cases.

The recent alliance between international process and document management solutions provider Global 360 and local ICT services provider Business Connexion, made it possible for the partners to secure the case management solution tender of the Competition Tribunal of South Africa. This tender affords the partners the opportunity to implement Case360, a case management solution.

Business Connexion partnered with Global 360 to provide the Tribunal with this solution because both companies’ approach to building solutions are a perfect fit to each other’s implementation methodologies.

Tim Stanley, Global 360 regional sales director says: “There were over 20 companies bidding for the tender, both small and large technology organisations.”

During the evaluation process of the tenders and to assess Case360s track record in the legal space, the Competition Tribunal had contacted one of their international clients, Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court, to serve as a reference.

Yasmin Carrim, a member of the Tribunal, says “The Tribunal has a legacy of manual document processing and we are looking to digitise this as much as possible. We aim to achieve an efficient paperless environment next year.”

The Tribunal also intends to increase the visibility of and access to its information as a resource both internally and externally. “We require a more accurate indication of the exact costs involved in our operations,” adds Carrim.

According to Stanley, the Tribunal will profit from Case360’s ability to aggregate all necessary data, documents, files, tasks or other critical information into a single virtual case folder. “Users will be able to collect all relevant documents related to any given case efficiently and easily,” he says.

Case Management can be described as a segment or style of document management combined with knowledge and process management. It revolves around the logical structuring of information and documents in the form of a case folder, which can be shared and collaborated with multiple role players to ensure that business critical processes are applied to the case folder as needed.

Forrester has recently issued their first report on “Adaptive Case Management” and in this report Global 360 was rated as a leader. What made the Global 360 Case Management solution a good fit for the Competition Tribunal’s business requirements is that it was an end-to-end solution that could provide enterprise document management, process management, reporting and collaboration to manage the tribunal’s legal case folders. The other major benefit is that this is all provided for in one product, and therefore does not require several products to be integrated together.

“What Global 360 offers is very much in line with Business Connexion’s strategy to provide business solutions based on best practice and using best of breed software to enable these solutions,” adds Kevin Reaper, manager in Knowledge and Information Management at Business Connexion. BCX will be providing advisory, project and technical implementation skills and ongoing support services to the Competitions Tribunal including training to ensure that a turnkey solution is delivered that will optimise how they complete work and deliver a better service to the public.
