Chamber Of Mines Congratulates Mr Brian Molefe On His Appointment As The Group Chief Executive Of Transnet
The Chief Executive of the Chamber of Mines of South Africa, Mr Bheki Sibiya, today congratulated Mr Brian Molefe on his appointment as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Transnet.
“On behalf of the Chamber of Mines and its members, I would like to extend my congratulations to Mr Brian Molefe on his appointment. This appointment is especially gratifying to us as it brings to an end a period of uncertainty in an organisation of extreme importance to the mining industry. From past experience, we have found that people who are acting in their positions have constraints in making long term decisions. We are confident that Mr Molefe’s appointment will remove those constraints. Decisive long term decisions are critical in improving the efficiencies in the transportation of minerals and therefore play a very important role in foreign exchange earnings for the country. We look forward to engaging constructively with Mr Molefe to ensure the long term competitiveness of the mining industry in which rail transportation is so critical”.
Mr Sibiya said Mr Molefe’s track record, as head of the Public Investment Corporation, was commendable and expressed hope that his tenure at Transnet will bring mutual benefits for Transnet as well as the mining industry and therefore assist in the creation of jobs.
