Tempest Car Hire has announced the opening of its new branch at Lanseria airport, aimed at offering the cost conscious traveler convenience and accessibility, and a welcoming environment with the similar open-plan feel recently adopted by Tempest’s other recently revamped airport branches.
“Lanseria Airport has become a key hub, and with many of our clients, especially those situated in the North of Joburg, now using this airport, we want to be able to accommodate them,” says Tempest marketing director, Janita Edwards.
She adds that representation at airports is key from a convenience point of view. “We need to be at the hubs where people travel to and from, so our clients can engage with us where they are, and not have to travel to get to us, or wait for a vehicle to be delivered.”
Tempest, which has over 30 branches nationwide, is an ACSA car rental concessionaire as well as having representation at non ACSA locations, like Richards Bay and Oribi Airport in Pietermaritzburg, and now, Lanseria.
Over the last 18 months Tempest has implemented a branch upgrade programme, of which OR Tambo was the first branch to be refurbished, followed by the other branches.
She points out that Tempest was the first SA car hire company to go for an open plan feel to its kiosks, specifically at OR Tambo International, and this has directly contributed to an increase in walk-up business at this location. “Walk-ups (customers who have not pre-booked their car rental) offset no-shows and the vehicles are used thus retaining a high utilisation level, and of course it’s great that we can assist with providing a customer with a vehicle at the last minute,” she says.
Edwards expects Lanseria will follow this trend, and says that the design of the new Lanseria branch stands out, with its almost 100% glass design while following the same layout and image as Tempest’s other upgraded branches.
“It has the same welcoming, open feel, as the other recently revamped airport branches, which now have better capacity, and is in keeping with our cool, but unpretentious brand image,” she explains.
Edwards says that Lanseria clients will be able to enjoy other additional conveniences including GPS rentals, quick access to car parks, and separate returns facilities to speed up returns for clients. “Clients can also pick up a complimentary magazine (or 10!) – which have proven to be very popular and a successful value add at other Tempest locations,” she adds.
