MINING: Support for Acid Mine Drainage Solutions
Recent Gauteng Business News
In his comment, the Chief Executive of the Chamber of Mines, Mr Zoli Diliza, said “The Chamber of Mines is aware of the hazards emanating from acid mine drainage which has been decanting over a period from derelict and abandoned mines. The Chamber is also acutely aware of the enormity of the challenges faced by the government to address the issue. The industry is therefore prepared to work with government to find solutions that would not only deal with underground flooding but to also eliminate potential harm to people in a sustainable manner. We therefore wish to express our support and commitment to the Minister and her Department in addressing these issues and hope that the experts appointed to look into this matter will accord the industry an opportunity to make a meaningful input”.
