AWARDS: WPN Five Star Woman and Rising Star Award Finalists Selected

The three finalists for the Women’s Property Network (WPN) Five Star Woman Award 2010, sponsored by Nedbank Corporate Property Finance, have been selected.

In addition, the finalists for the WPN Rising Star Award, also sponsored by Nedbank Corporate Property Finance, have been selected.

The finalists for the Five Star Woman Award 2010 are Portia Tau-Sekati, CEO of the Property Sector Charter Council; Kim Faclier, Director/Shareholder of Saville Row Auctions; and Elaine Wilson, Senior Manager, Consulting and Research at JHI.

The Five Star Woman Award seeks to recognise an exceptional woman within the commercial property sector who epitomises the following attributes; possesses specialist knowledge in her field, has an established and extensive network, is recognised and respected by her peers, is ethical and trustworthy and empowers women in the industry.

The Rising Star Award recognises an up and coming woman within the commercial property industry who possesses specialist knowledge in her field, is working on establishing an extensive network, is respected by her peers and seniors, is ethical and trustworthy and aspires to empower women in the industry.

The three finalists for the Rising Star Award 2010 are Genevieve Naidoo, Head Project Management at Standard Bank; Sandisiwe Mbutuma, an Associate Director of Nonku Ntshona and Associates; and Leigh-Ann Rowan, Senior Financial Manager at JHI.

The national judges of this year’s awards are Marna van der Walt, JHI CEO; Ben Kodisang, MD of OMIGPI; TC Chetty, MD of TC Chetty and Associates; Kevin Roman, Group CEO of Hermans and Roman; Samuel Ogbu, CEO of Liberty Properties; Nomzamo Radebe, FD of Pareto Limited and last year’s Five Star Woman Award winner; and Amelia Beattie, COO of OMIGPI.

Amelia Beattie, WPN Awards committee chairperson says, “We are privileged to have seen how women in the property industry have progressed over the last year. This year's nominees have been of exceptional quality and depth and they have grown in confidence, knowing the impact that they and all women make in the industry. The awards are a testimony of every woman in the industry that gives of herself to ensure that we continue to create more success stories to inspire every girl with stars in her eyes.”
