Travel: SAA expands its code share with Japanese airline, All Nippon
Recent Gauteng Business News
South African Airways (SAA) will expand its code share agreement with All Nippon Airways (ANA) to offer customers more travel options to the Far East.
SAA entered into a code share agreement with All Nippon, a fellow Star Alliance member, in March last year for flights between Hong Kong and Osaka, in west Japan. SAA flies daily between Johannesburg and Hong Kong.
The code share agreement between SAA and ANA has now been expanded to include Hong Kong to Narita Airport, Tokyo, Central Japan, effective 26 October.
“We welcome the enhancement of this code share as it expands our route network into the Far East and allows more convenient travel for our customers to Tokyo. As a network carrier one* *of our objectives is to expand our route network in order to provide our customers with more travel options through our own network as well as through partnerships formed with internationally recognised airlines,” says Jason Krause, Head of SAA’s Business Development Division.
SAA has code share arrangements with a wide range of international airlines, including a further four agreements with airlines that operate to this region. SAA code shares with Singapore Airlines between Johannesburg and Singapore; with Malaysia Airlines between Johannesburg and Kuala Lumpur, with Thai Airways between Johannesburg and Bangkok and with Asiana Airlines between Hong Kong and Seoul.
These code shares allow SAA’s international customers seamless access to numerous destinations in South Africa, and the rest of Africa on services operated by SAA and its regional alliance partners. SAA flies to 20 destinations on the African continent and is Africa’s leading and award winning carrier.
