The Special Star Awards consists of two accolades per region, namely the Retailer of the Year and Service Provider of the Year Awards. These awards recognise those retailers and service providers who have provided exceptional levels of customer service, thereby contributing positively towards South Africa’s shopping centre industry.
“The SACSC would like to encourage everyone to nominate the retailer and service provider that they believe should receive top honours and be acknowledged as leaders in the retail sector”, notes Amanda Stops, General Manager of the SACSC.
“In celebration of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, we have introduced a new category at this year’s awards.” says Stops. “One store will walk away with the award for the best window display for the World Cup, a unique award with a special significance in light of the prestigious sporting event.”
The SACSC will host regional Special Star Awards Dinners in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Gauteng, KZN and Port Elizabeth where these retailers and service providers will be recognised on a regional level.
The 2010 National retailer of the Year and National Service Provider of the Year will also receive a Spectrum award at a gala event to be held in November.
The Spectrum Awards, which is another SACSC initiative, will be used as a platform for honouring achievements in innovation, creativity, vision and excellence across all disciplines and all sectors within the South African retail industry. In essence, this awards ceremony honours the crème-de-la-crème in the retail industry and can thus be likened to the stature of that of the Hollywood’s Oscar Awards.
