Presiding officers of South Africa’s Parliament and the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) invite members of the media to a launch of the 2nd International Women’s Conference on Wednesday, 22 October 2008 at the Pan African Parliament in Gallagher Estate, Midrand.
Entitled the “Women’s Platform for Action in Africa”, the conference will take place from Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th October, bringing together about 200 women representing about every country on the African continent to deliberate on various issues under the theme: “Women’s Quest for Human Security”.
Among the delegates due to grace this event will be the PAP President, Hon. Dr Gertrude Mongella, South African Deputy President Ms Baleka Mbete, the South African Speaker of the National Assembly, honourable Gwen Mahlangu Nkabinde and the PAP Third Vice-President Hon. Elise Loum.
In addition, the National Council of Provinces’ Deputy Chairperson, Peggy Hollander and African National Congress Spokesperson Jessie Duarte will also be participating in the conference
