INFOTECH: Gallium Launches Its Inaugural User Group
Recent Gauteng Business News
In a bid to better serve its customer base, Gallium – an EOH company and HP platinum partner – has launched a user group forum to share information on its products, technology and services. Gallium provides specialised services and solutions in application quality, vulnerability, performance, availability and compliance, as well as managed services in application performance, end-user experience and service level management.
“User groups provide members with ‘real life’ opportunities for learning from the shared experience of other members. The Gallium User Group will be a place for our clients to share their sometimes hard-won knowledge with one another,” says Haydn Pinnell, MD of Gallium.
Gallium’s clients are generally large companies in the banking and financial services, insurance and telecoms sectors, and government departments.
Pinnell says that the first user group meeting, held earlier this month on March 18, was well-attended, with clients asking all the right questions about the topic of the advantages and challenges of upgrading to Quality Centre 10.
The next Gallium User Group meeting is scheduled for the evening of May 27 at the EOH Auditorium, at EOH’s head office in Bruma, Johannesburg. Subjects to be tackled at this meeting include:
• How does testing influence monitoring – discussion to be led by Jacques Vermeulen, of Gallium
• What’s new at HP – Clive Brindley, of HP
• Career development in testing – Sue Martin, of Gallium.
Two more meetings will be held before year-end, including a conference in early November.
Pinnell encourages clients to sign up for the user group as there are countless benefits, including:
• Updates on news and products
• Access to a Q and A forum
• Access to industry experts
• Expanded contacts: get to know first-hand what other collegues are doing in the same areas
• Compare and evaluate best practices
• Become a collective voice on common issues
• Receive notice of events and other developments.
“Given the astronomical time and cost implications of going to market with untested applications, companies cannot afford to not invest in application testing. Our hope is that, through the interaction and sharing of information between clients, and even prospective clients, we can help the local application testing industry and skills grow,” concludes Pinnell.
