Gauteng, In an industry first, Avis Fleet Services has taken advantage of the depressed second hand vehicle market to tailor a full maintenance fleet solution for insurance provider Telesure at 25% below traditional market costs.
The 3-year contract includes the supply of 205 Volkswagen 1.6 Trendline Polos, worth R20 million. The vehicles were sourced from Avis Rent a Car’s second hand vehicle business Zeda Cars. The Volkswagens were selected given their long-standing reputation in the fleet industry and the fact that they are no older than 9 months, having just come off Avis’s car rental fleet with no more than 35 000 kilometres on the clock.
Managing director Laurence Savage says the solution was developed without compromising on quality, safety or reliability, while meeting Telesure’s stated objective of being a low-cost producer that delivers service excellence in the short-term insurance industry. “This marks a new era of creative solutions and mutually beneficial outcomes with sustainable values that comes from dealing with companies seeking sensible business solutions through partnership.”
“Avis Fleet Services has the expertise to address a number of factors that would have an impact on our clients’ bottom line. Our fully managed fleet offering takes pressure off our clients’ operational requirements, allowing them to focus on their core business competencies while we focus on strong, consistent fleet management benefits,” Savage says. “A key business intent has always been to add to our clients’ business imperative through our innovative fleet solutions.”
Avis Fleet Services is the largest fleet leasing and management company in Gauteng, Southern Africa with over 140 000 vehicles under lease and management in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho.
